Museum in Mexico City This exquisite mask is from the site museum at the Templo Mayor, which are Aztec ruins right smack bang in the middle of town. They were discovered in the late 70s when the authorities were digging a new sewer line. The Aztecs built a new temple every 52 years, and you can see 7 of them, all built one on top of each other. When you're walking amongst the ruins, it's a bit confusing what wall belongs with what temple, but the site museum is just excellent and explains it all.
