| From Taxco we went to Mexico City. We made a beeline out to Teotihuacan, which is a truly vast site that housed maybe 250,000 people in it's prime. No-one knows who the builders of the city were, or why it suddenly declined. The pyramid shown here survived with the carvings intact and little flecks of colour on them because it was buried in rubble. The museum in Mexico City contains a reconstruction of how the pyramid would have looked in tact and with the coloured plaster. |
