Yaxchilan Looking up to what is known as Temple 33 with one of the many stelae in the foreground. Yaxchilan is well known for it's ornamentally carved lintels, depicting such things as royal blood letting. Royal women used to pierce their tongues with chains of thorns, and royal men pierced their penises!
