Palenque The site at Palenque is great for several reasons: the pleasing lines of the architecture, the remants of the brightly coloured portrait gallery, Pakal's tomb, the crystal clear river for a cooling swim (a must-do) and the fab museum on the site (has armed guards outside it, as does a lot of tourist stuff in Chiapas province). This is one of the amazingly detailed representations of one of the gods that was found on site, and there are many many more.
