| After sweating our way around the Mayan sites, tramping through mosquito and bug infested jungle, we thought we'd earned a little break by the water. So, we bussed our way to the Atlantic ocean coast of the Yucatan and settled in to the Diamante K cabanas. Right on the water's edge, private little white sand beach, a great bar to hang out in, plus a vegetarian cafe where you eat outside on big cushions next to the water it was just heavenly (ok, ok, so we liked the margaritas too!). Our cabana was only just big enuf to fit in a bed (suspended by ropes from the ceiling) and nothing else - very spartan, not even any glass in the windows! The other downside was the cold shared shower facilities, still it added atmosphere. We chilled out so much we spent 5 days swinging in our hammocks by the water when we'd only intended to stay 2 days! In fact, the only reason we eventually left was that our MP3 players ran out of batteries!! :-) |
